Dr. Alan Afsari was born and raised in Detroit and attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate education. He attended American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine. Dr. Afsari had post-graduate training in general surgery at Providence Hospital and completed his orthopedic residency was at Wayne State University. He completed further subspecialty training in orthopedic trauma in Tamp Florida at the Florida Orthopedic Institute under the direction of Roy Sanders. He also completed an AO/ASIF International Fellowship studying complex hip and pelvic reconstruction at Inselspital, University of Bern, in Switzerland.Dr. Afsari has returned home after serving for the past four years as Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda California. He utilizes the latest techniques to minimize soft tissue trauma when treating complex fractures. He also tailors treatments & procedures to each patient's needs. He specializes in orthopedic trauma, complex fractures, hip impingement & deformities, fractures of extremities, osteonecrosis of the hip, arthritis, and hip replacement. Dr. Afsari also performs minimally invasive, muscle sparing, anterior hip replacement.
